The greater world population has came to know the existence of FKA Twigs when they were first spotted dating by the fans’ very own Edward Cullen who then came from a very controversial relationship with his then co-star Kirsten Stewart. We cannot deny the large following the two had because of the hit movie Twilight. We can still remember the heart break felt by many when the he two separated ways…and enough of them because Robert is now in a calmer place as he is now engaged with the eccentric figure in the persona of FKA Twigs.
Born Tahliah Debrett Barnet in Gloucestershire, England on January 16 1988, many would wonder where the name FKA Twigs came from. FKA stands for Formerly Known As – Interesting isn’t it? Twigs on the other hand is a nickname given to her in relation to the sound her bones produce whenever she dances. The screen name even created a buzz as another artist named Twigs disputed it.
Not only her name embodies how artistic she is because this girl is a singer con song writer con dancer con producer. She started her career as a backup dancer at the age of sixteen. Stars in the names of Jessie J, Kylie Minogue and Ed Sheeran are amongst those she performed with. Her genre of music is considered electropop.
Her debut full length album titled LP1 released in August 2014 was well received even by critics even named by Time magazine as ‘one of the most compelling and complex acts in R&B.’ Aside from singing, Twigs is also a producer. Her first venture was back in 2012 as she self released EP1, her first album then followed by another album named EP2 which she co-produced with Arca, the same person who produced Kanye’s Yeezus.
