A huge boom box that is glastonbury festival

glastonbury

Founded and funded by Michael Eavis in the 1970s, Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, or colloquially known as Glastonbury Fest, is a yearly event that music lovers had been dying to attend. With its usual five-day extravaganza, people from all over the planet camp out and spend a couple of freezing nights in a small town in Pilton, Somerset in the United Kingdom.

Definitely comparable to Coachella, music lovers of all ages and those who are avid performing arts fans come together to be witnesses to shows after shows of talent, sounds, dance and modern partying. While some treat Glastonbury Fest as more formal showcase of mainstream artists and acts, it is well-celebrated by people on their young adult years and being crowded by mish-mash of megalomania in style, aura and vibe.

Some of the genres being played at Glastonbury Fest includes, but not surely limited to, rock, pop, world music, heavy metal, hip hop, dance, folk, reggae, indie rock, alternative, electronic music, trip hop and trance. Well-known artists have graced the stage of this flamboyant festival.

Aside from mainstream music, there are also avenues wherein dance, comedy, circus, theater and cabaret are being performed to stay true to the fest’s core value in promoting arts of all kinds. The Glastonbury Festival is commonly held at the last weeks of June and is intended to put up a show which generates millions to help utilitarian missions and good causes.

This year, the fest organizers had ensured that all their visitors would be treated with the coolest set of acts by artists headlining the social media. Glastonbury Festival’s schedule for 2015 is at the 24th until the 28th. Performing at the most famous spot in Glastonbury which is called the Pyramid Stage includes Florence + The Machine, Mary J. Blige, Chronixx, superstars Kanye West and Pharell Williams, Burt Bacarach, Paloma Faith, The Waterboys, The Who, Paul Weller, Lionel Richie, Patti Smith, Hozier and Burtle Silver Band.

Hordes of other stages are there to visit like West Holts, The Park Stage, John Peel Stage, Acoustic and Avalon Stage, The Left Field, Glade, Heds Party in Sonic, BBC Introducing, The Space Port, The Spike, Stonebridge, Rabbit Hole, and HMS Sweet Charity. On each makeshift stage, series of artists from all over the planet would be giving entertainment on a 30-minute to 1-hour intervals.

The humongous scope of the Glastonbury festival is often distinguished as a major musical event that has small festivals within. Each designated area has been well-thought of and unique on its way.
Festival goers are seen sleeping on their tents just to feel the whole five-day schedule and lots of camaraderie are being formed through this annual event of fun, art appreciation and music showcase.
