Dionne & Friends

1. Dionne Warwick

Who doesn’t know the late, great singer Dionne Warwick, who is the reason behind the greatest hits, A Home is not a Home, I’ll never love this way again, Heartbreaker and the most famous, That’s What Friends Are For and much more.

Dionne is the cousin of another great singer Whitney Houston and Bobbi Kristina.

That’s what Friends Are For is one of their many greatest hits, this is a song collaboration of the 4 greatest singers Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Gladys Knight and herself Dionne Warwick. This song is from the album “Friends” and gotten the award at the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and Grammy Award for Song of the Year.

And, if you will search this song on You Tube you will also see another collaboration done by Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick herself, Whitney Houston and Luther Van dross that has more than a million views.

Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager wrote the song, That’s What Friends Are For, they use this song for the 1982 movie Night Shift, and was recorded by Rod Steward for the movie closing credits.

This version by Rod Steward was not released as a single, but they thought it had a lot of potential and in 1985 they had Dionne and friends recorded it. It was a big hit and reached the top spot for four weeks on January 18, 1986. Dionne and friends recorded this song to raise fund for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmFAR).

Dionne Warwick and friends recorded this song separately that the producer Bayer Sager and Bacharach said that putting it together was like a jigsaw puzzle. But all the singers came together to shoot the music video. “It was a very emotional evening in which a lot of tears were shed,” Bayer Sager said.

So every time we listen to this song all we can think of is our friends that are always there to give a smile in our lonely face. So keep smiling and keep shining guys!
