1989, welcome to apple music

1989

It seems that the “bad blood” so to speak between Taylor Swift and streaming services companies does not end with her stance against Spotify. Her belief about free music demands recognition when she shakes off her entire 1989 album from Apple music.

According to what Buzzfeed has learned, the pop star has no plan in streaming her latest album on iTunes. The entire album will be yanked off from the streaming services, but her previous ones will remain. Still, that’s a big loss out there.

The album in undeniably a hit – as what was expected from Taylor – selling more than any other albums in the last two years and earning as high as 5x platinum title. But then, after some negotiations Apple cave in to the pop star’s demands and issued an abrupt change in policy.

If previously the tech giant will not compensate the artists, writers, producers and anybody else during the three-month free-trial, it is now approved that those who are involved in making music will be paid accordingly.

“#AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period,” Eddy Cue tweeted, an important person and lieutenant of CEO Tim Cook, as a response to Taylor Swift’s open letter “To Apple, Love Taylor.”

Taylor Swift acknowledges the response saying she’s “relieved and elated” on how things turned out.
And to put her words to action, the pop star finally removed the bar holding her 1989 from the streaming services with a little message to note: “After the events of this week, I’ve decided to put 1989 on Apple Music… and happily so.” Apparently, as revealed in a series of her tweets, it is the first time streaming her album felt right.

But of course, it’s not only Taylor who’s happy. More than the artist and her fans, Apple sure is delighted, too. With the launch of their new platform Apple Music, brownie points were earned with a nod from Taylor. However, unlike with the partnership with other artist, the deal between the streaming company and Taylor is not exclusive.

Whatever the case, we’re just happy to have the pop star’s music back on digital.
