Beatles’ abbey road sessions will be a musical

All Beatles fans know that The Fab Four recorded all of their classic albums and singles at Abbey Road with their producer George Martin, including “Revolver,” “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and “Abbey Road.” in the 1960s.

Today, The Beatles’ recording sessions in London’s Abbey Road Studios is being turned into a musical at the city’s Royal Albert Hall and it will be called, “The Sessions at Abbey Road”. It is scheduled to be on staged beginning on April 1, 2016 at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

A replica of Abbey Road’s Studio Two will be recreated in its exact dimensions (18 by 11.5 meters) on the floor of the circular Royal Albert Hall, complete with a mixing booth will be built at the capital’s Royal Albert Hall for the production.

It musical will cover the Beatles’ recording career from 1962 to 1969. It will also feature 39 musicians and 8 singers to cover all the overdubs, plus period equipment.

Producer Jef Hanlon said that an “incredible amount” of research and study had gone into the show to make it perfect and as realistic as possible. All arrangements, instrumentation and vocals will be performed similarly to the original recordings of the Fab Four.

Director Kim Gavin said “The performance will be a technical ballet, a constant flow of movement of cast and musicians. We are trying to create the look, feel and atmosphere of those famous sessions in Abbey Road.”

Executive producer, Stig Edgren said that the musical show will surely give “audiences an honest, respectful and accurate recreation of how musical history was made”.

The goal of “The Sessions at Abbey Road” the musical is to simulate the original sound of the recording sessions more than the visual appearance of The Beatles.
