A Short Destiny’s Song Book

destinys child

We all know where they started, how they climbed the imminent ladder of success, their starts and stops and rush, and how they regretfully disbanded. Their story is like every little girl’s dream — to be part of a famous group careening the industry as if they were born inside this canopy.

Fame had never been a slippery sap; they had it within their grasp. The palpability that they will rise to an optimum level had been obvious from the very beginning. Men and women alike loved the trio’s dynamic musicality, the drama they brought about and their bodacious appeal every single time they went on air.

Destiny’s Child had been one of the most popular girl group to have roamed this planet. Beyoncé Knowles, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland had stuck with their dreams of being known because of their incredible versatility and talent. Single after single, the general listening community had grown to love the trio and continuously had done so even after their separation almost 9 years ago.

We won’t give them a tribute through this article but it’s always a great feeling to look back on what they have accomplished as well-seasoned singers. It’s such a nostalgic moment to have imagined them performing as a group and not like the solo artists that they have become over the years.

Destiny’s Child is the girl group to beat, and no other batch of neophytes had followed the track they have left behind.

Brown Eyes – this soft-melodied track had been indelible as one of the greatest tracks that the trio had released. After their series of songs that speaks of women empowerment, hearing this song had been a refreshing outtake. With Knowles leading this ballad, the group’s capability of blending without compromising the solemnity of the song had merited the group approving nods. The single’s attack for it to be considered a hands-down love song had been a successful risk and couples all over the world felt all cheesy whenever this song is being played.

Lose My Breath – Contrary to the singsong effect of Brown Eyes, Destiny’s Child also taught us that talent must be a complete package of singing while doing the moves, too. The song’s title had been the most suitable one as this song would surely make you catch your breath through its jumpy and ‘groovy’ tune. Like many of the other songs, the girls had shared and shone through their parts of the tracks. This also is one of the few moments where we can see the ladies do an all-out dance showdown on its music video.

Stand-Up for Love – Sung as the theme song of World Children’s Day, the girl group had shown not only their humongous talents as artists but their soft hearts to do philanthropic work. The song’s message conveyed a lot about the world’s usual scenarios of day to day living and how we should all be bold and caring to stand-up for what is righteous and good for everybody. The song in totality had been a smash hit and seeing the girls belting it out with each other had been a must-hear.

Girl – The music video is a reenactment of what a girl can go through with a cheating, nasty guy. The song message is like a transcript of a normal girl talk and that kind of approach is such an innovative move to create a song. Destiny’s Child songs were about women who embrace independence, self-reliance and beauty. They were advocacies of the power of women and this song, with its title, is like an encapsulated form that shouts of what they want to convey as a group.

Outro (DC 3) Thank You – This song hadn’t been a huge hit. But once you hear it, this is such a cool song as if all the girls had been giving a speech about how blessed they are had been with each other. This song is not for belting, not for you to memorize, but for you to listen very deeply. Their messages, being delivered like rap, and the choruses’ in-between are so genuine and you will feel the same happiness that they might have experienced while creating this song. They’re more than just a famous girl group, this song is a testament that they are, after all, a family.

We might not be able to witness such a fantastic mix of talent that this group had shown the world, but for as long as their songs play in our heads, Destiny’s Child is still alive.
