Young Prodigies: Tinashe and Conor Maynard

Two names that you need to keep your guards on: Conor Maynard and Tinashe.

Artists nowadays bank on their debut singles. It is a matter of make or break. A sole chance into setting who they are and what they can offer to the booming and overflowing industry that is music.
If an artists placed a mixed of both good and bad reviews on their first major release, it’s a good sign that he or she is here to stay longer.

Pure raves are to be doubted as this can project a diva syndrome or the one-hit wonder stigma that they are veering away to.

Rants, on the other hand, might be good publicity, but you’re only a star for a shorter period of time. Adios is definitely lying on the outskirts of your growing career.

But how are we liking and hating Conor Maynard and Tinashe as of this writing? Are they here to stay?

DEBUTS

Conor Maynard is an English singer-songwriter who happens to be starting his dive into the void at the early age of 22.

His debut single “Can’t Say No’, had been his benchmark after its victorious win on MTV’s Brand New for 2012 award.

Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe, or easily known Tinashe, is an American singer-songwriter, dancer and actress who have been trying with all her might to be on top of the fame chain since whe was 3.

With a just ripe age of 23, Tinashe is now a name that you commonly hear on radio stations and music channels as a star to watch.

2 and On is her debut single which was released on January 2014, stayed at number 1 on the Rhytmic Top 40, placed and peaked at number 24 on the US Billboard Hot 100, making it her first Top 40 single.

FIRST DISCOGRAPHY

Released on October 3, 2014, Aquarius is Tinashe’s first major solo album. Smartly, the record label who handled Tinashe and her first album picked the name Aquarius as this was Tinashe’s zodiac sign.

The album debuted at the seventeenth spot on the US Billboard 200 after its release and managed to garner 18,000+ copies in its first week.

Tinashe’s Aquarius, as some critics commented, is comparable to songs and albums created by Janet Jackson.

Three singles had been the bandwagon of the album namely (1) 2 On, (2) Pretend and (3) All Hands on Deck.

Metacritic rated Aquarius with a 80/100 rating. AllMusic and Billboard gave it a 4 out of 5 stars. Rolling Stone and Los Angeles graded it as a 3.5 out of 5 stars kind of album.

Contrast was released last July 30 2012 in the United Kingdom. Between August and October, it had been scattered across Europe.

Pharell Williams, Stargate and Benny Blanco are just some of the producers who contributed to Conor Maynard’s debut album.

Appearances from American recording artists such as Ne-Yo and Rita Ora can also be boasted as one of the album’s various strengths.

The albums’ lead song Can’t Say No entered the UK Singles Chart at the second spot. The other single joining Can’t Say No as this album’s flagship is Vegas Girl which entered the same record charts at number 4.

BBC Music and Contact Music gave the album a Positive rating. AllMusic placed Contrast at the 3.5 out of 5 stars list and Metacritic ending their share with 67/100 grade.

FUTURE PLANS

It was revealed in June 2013 that Maynard would release a book offering fans an insight into his rise to fame, entitled Take Off; it was released in October 2013.

Maynard is currently preparing for the release of his second studio album. He has promised a new sound for the album and has confirmed that he has worked with Labrinth and Travie McCoy on the album.

On 23 August, Maynard confirmed that his new single would be called “R U Crazy”, which was produced by Labrinth.

The song premiered on radio on 25 August, as well as the music video appearing on 27 August.
On March 16, 2015, Tinashe released a seven song mixtape entitled Amethyst for free download.

The project was recorded in Tinashe’s bedroom during her Christmas vacation, and features production from Ryan Hemsworth, Iamsu!, DJ Dahi, Ritz Reynolds, Nez & Rio, Mae N. Maejor, Smash David and Legacy.
