at40

One way that people lean on to whenever they want to be in the know with music are record charts.

Countdowns over the radio, television and internet had been a staple to almost everyone as this somewhat determines what song is currently on the top spot.

These charts also provide listeners a comprehensive comparison if the tallies being done are accurate based on the songs’ regularity over the waves.

Song charts or music charts is one reliable way for music lovers to know what song to love, which artist is slowly fading away, what genre is up and about at a specific time or season, etc.

A music chart, or record chart, is a method to of ranking songs or music on a specific period of time based on popularity.

Charts are being compiled though different sets of criteria such as record sales, amount of radio and television airplay, radio disk jockey requests, votes, amount of downloads online and genre.

The Billboard Hot 100 is the American music industry standard record chart for singles, published weekly by Billboard magazine.

The first number-one song of the Hot 100 was “Poor Little Fool” by Ricky Nelson on August 4, 1958.
As of the issue for the week ending April 4, 2015, the Hot 100 has had 1,041 different number-one hits. Its current number one is “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars.
