David Foster is widely known as an advocate of singing talent all over the world. Now he is conquering Asia in his hope to find the next singing superstar as one of the coaches in “Asia’s Got Talent,” currently renowned as “the biggest talent competition in the world,” This Grammy award winning music producer has also launched the careers of Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Whitney Houston and Charice Pempengco.
According to David, it is still his passion and advocacy to discover new talents by reinventing himself and not staying in one place for too long. He accepted the offer of being a coach for AXN’s Asia’s Got Talent because he likes the challenge of discovering the next superstar.
When ask about his judging style and qualities he is looking for David says that he can be quite honest, truthful and strict. He also said that he adjust the way he expresses his opinion since Asian Culture does not accept direct criticism.
As for the qualities, he said that he was looking for a great singer with a great stage presence and should make him want to listen to them. Since the show is about showcasing talents, for other acts, he just simply wanted to be impressed.
Asia’s Got Talent is catering different kind of acts. Thousands are auditioning showcasing their talents in dancing, singing, acrobats, circus acts and magical tricks. Admittedly, David says that he has to get tips on judging dance acts from his fellow coach Vanness Wu who is a great dancer.
Since judging singing act is his expertise, he has to decide on whether other acts can be a good or great world class talent.
