Pentatonix

Pentatonix latter known as PTX is the 3rd season winner in the renowned singing competition in NBC’s “The Sing Off” having eleven episodes all in all, which aired on September 19 of 2011.
PTX is an American A cappella group coming from the heart of Arlington, Texas.

They are a group of five members, namely Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kristin Maldonado the only flower among the torn, Avi Kaplan, and Kevin Olusola. This young group had their breakthrough when they won $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony Music.

Coming from their humble origin now began an enormous leap from the different careers they pursued in college and now becoming Grammy award winners, sold platinum records, won various awards, having their own official website with tons of subscribers, even won at the YouTube Music Awards on November 3 of 2013 as the Best Response Video awardee, and has overflowing followers on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram (1.7 million Facebook fans, over 400,000 Twitter followers, and 281,000 Instagram followers) but here comes the best part, they even guested on the hit all-time most wanted kids show Sesame Street.

The group began their humble journey coming from the three high school friends Kirstin, Mitch and Scott they then after hearing a radio announcement of a casting of the famous Musical TV series “GLEE” these three tried to send a video of them singing “Telephone” via their own trio musical arrangement on YouTube, but the latter they were not handpicked, yet unexpectedly they gained viewers on the net and followers from their school which made them become performers in their own alma mater.

After graduating all pursued different careers until Scott heard about “The Sing Off” auditions from one of his a cappella group mates so he convinced his two friends Kristin and Mitch to form an a cappella group, but the latter found out that a group has to be of 4 members so Scott invited Avi whom he met and was well known in their a cappella community for having a Basso Profondo vocal range and added him to the group plus Kevin whom they have seen on YouTube having blasted many viewers for his profound cello playing talent and beatboxing expertise later forming the group Pentatonix and the rest was history.

Talents and skills in Music can be beaten by hard work and perseverance that is what this group is all about. Having then formed a strong friendship made their A cappella group even stronger. Now, according to their official website they have gone through North America for their “On My Way Home” tour which sold out 100,000 tickets.
