Daughtry: The Rise after AI

Daughtry

We know him as the bald rocker from American Idol Season 5. Hailed as one of stronger contenders, Daughtry managed to stay until top four.

After AI, Daughtry was able to get out of the hit show’s shadows as he managed to top charts outpacing his rivals Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks.

Short Bio:

Born December 26, 1979 as Christopher Adam Daughtry in North Carolina, he first began singing with local bands at the age of 16. He is a father to four kids and married to a massage therapist named Deanna Daughtry since 2002.

Chis also tried auditioning for Rock star: INXS but was turned down. This must’ve been a blessing in disguise though for something bigger was about to unfold for this singer. He was also the lead singer of the band called Absent Element before trying his luck on Idol.

Career Milestone:

After his exit on American Idol, Daughtry refused the offer of being Fuel’s band vocalist but later became part of another group coincidentally named DAUGHTRY. Five of his songs was able to make their way to the charts.

Songs include September, Home, It’s not over and No Surprise. Daughtry has been nominated for 4 Grammys including Best Rock Album (Daughtry), Best Rock Song (“It’s Not Over”), and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals (“It’s Not Over”) and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals (“Home”). Daughtry has sold a total of 84.1 million albums and singles combined. 23.8 million albums and 60.3 million singles.

Baptize was the last album released by Daughtry back in 2013 but this does not mean that he has his career on toll. This album alone was said to have 330, 000 copies sold.
