It’s hard to miss a song or two from the living emblem of hip hop known as Dr. Dre. The classic figure of the said music genre has not only set a new pace when it comes to hip hop music, but also nurtured and supported upcoming artists leading them to the same path he had traversed during the course of his active music career.

There is no denying that the prominence of his persona in the music industry is eminent as he was able to flexibly switch roles from being a rapper, composer, and then music producer. His footsteps are a dream for many and his success is the envy of those who are trying to win a spot in an industry that can be both kind and cruel at the same time.

Born Andre Romelle Young in 1965, the Compton born artist first started his career by going to bars and watching DJs and rappers perform their pieces in live performances. Stardom came knocking after being included in a musical group called World Class Wreckin Cru.

Records and swift-selling albums later, the musician finally gained respect because of his undeniable talent and slowly changing ventures as he also became the entrepreneur who owned the hailed Beats Electronics and Aftermath Entertainment.

Giving back didn’t skip the rapper’s mind as he honed other artists who later on became distinguished figures in the same field where he started. Artists like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent are some of the successful artists who went through the expert hands of Dr. Dre.

The rapper’s last appearance on stage was back in 2000. His then album named 2001 gained substantial success as it even won Grammys in the said year. Answering the fans’ clamor, Detox came to life. He said that this album was an inspired work of art.

This project was derived from the N.W.A documentary film entitled “Straight Outta Compton.” The surprise project was announced through Dr. Dre’s Beats 1 show ‘The Pharmacy’ with Ice Cube and F. Gary Gray.

It was in that March radio interview that Dre mentioned the current project that he was in. It was like a sneak peak of his most anticipated comeback, but without really spilling the beans. Dre admitted he tried to keep this under wraps as much as he could until the right time came to finally declare it in public.

The “Straight Outta Compton” film was the last public venture from this artist which earned nods from the people who were able to watch it.
