theweeknd

You might have thought of a feisty, chill, all-male group when you’ve heard about The Weeknd on your daily dose of music video scanning.

But further realization and information have busted your hopes of seeing guys parading on stage when you’ve come to know that The Weeknd is comprised of a solo artist.

A well-thought of branding, you say, and you just can’t stay away from the impressive musicality of The Weeknd as he string along collaborations with mainstream giants.

The Weeknd is actually Abel Tesfaye in real life, a Canada spawn R&B singer slash songwriter and record producer who’s slowly but surely cementing his fame to the general music market.

And The Weeknd had been envisioned as different from one-hit wonders and through his ceaseless thriving to becoming well-known, a favorable reception would be a gargantuan possibility that’s just difficult to miss.

Using social media as his entering platform to be famous, The Weeknd uploaded several mixtapes on video community YouTube the latter part of 2010.

By sparking interest to avid music followers, The Weeknd took advantage of this strategy in sharing his talent by not exerting much on packaging, music dissemination and costly branding.

By 2011, he had been a smash artist over the internet with mixtapes being played by the 17-25 age brackets which include House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence. All of the aforementioned mixtapes had been largely patronized.

The Weeknd then ventured into a more serious path in music by releasing an intelligent album compilation called Trilogy which lets out the genius in him.

Under Republic Records’ wings at that time, the album boasted remastered and edited versions of almost all of the released mixtapes and three new tracks that his growing fan base can enjoy.

The 25-year old Canadian prodigy then hoisted up another album in 2013 called Kiss Land with debut track of the same name and the song Live For as a follow-up song to keep it sellable at music bars.

Just this year, The Weeknd had been awarded by the Juno Awards as Artist of the Year and his song Often was given two majors which are Soul Recording of the Year and Video of the Year.

With almost three or four years afloat the music industry, The Weeknd also received accolades from Grammy’s as a nominee for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2014 for the song Remember You.
